Tuesday, September 27, 2005

A boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an urgent problem with one of the main computers. He dialed the employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's whispered, "Hello?"
Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to talk to the youngster, the boss asked, "Is your Daddy home?"
"Yes," whispered the small voice.
"May I talk with him?" the man asked.
To the surprise of the boss, the small voice whispered, "No."
Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?"
"Yes," came the answer.
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered, "No."
Knowing that it was not likely that a young child would be left home alone, the boss decided he would just leave a message with the person who should be there watching over the child.
"Is there anyone there besides you?" the boss asked the child.
"Yes," whispered the child, "a policeman."
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?"
"No, he's busy," whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?" asked the boss.
"Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman," came the whispered answer.
Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, "What is that noise?"
"A hello-copper," answered the whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" asked the boss, now alarmed.
In an awed whispering voice, the child answered, "The search team just landed the hello-copper."
Alarmed, concerned, and more than just a little frustrated, the boss asked, "What are they searching for?"

Still whispering, the young voice replied along with a muffled giggle, "Me."

Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the"Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mailstraight through, and you'll get the point.Just read through, it's cute.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor andactress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated andspecial.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier? The lesson:The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with themost credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the oneswho care.

."Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."(Charles Schultz)

something to think about.....
-----------------------------------------------

In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the
question "What kind of man are you looking for?".

She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye and asking
"Do you really want to know?" Reluctantly, he said "Yes.".

She began to expound..." As a woman in this day and age, I am in a position to ask a man what he can do for me that I can't do for myself. I pay my own bills. I take care of my household with out the help of any man...or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask "What can you bring to the table?".

The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought and stated "I am not referring to money. I need something more. I need a man who is striving for perfection in every aspect of life."

He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, and asked her to explain.

She said, "I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection mentally because I
need conversation and mental stimulation. I don't need a simple minded man. I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection spiritually because I don't need to be unequally yoked... believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster. I need a man who is striving for perfection financially because I don't need a financial burden. I am looking for someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman but strong enough to keep me grounded. I am looking for someone who I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive...he just has to be worthy. God made woman to be a help mate for man. I can't help a man if he can't help himself."

When she finished her spiel, she looked at him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face. He said "You are asking a lot.".

She replied "I'm worth a lot."

busy weekend...
dada had classes...
had to do pro bono stuff for church...
(website: redesign & newsletter:the beginnings)

mom still in hospital...
since last wednesday...
upper respiratort tract infection
and it isnt doing any good for her bp :(
hope she gets out early this week...

it broke my hear to see her close to tears
coz of plebitis (dunno if that's the way you spell it...the hand/vein gets really tired coz of the needle stuck in) waaah!
wish i could take away the pain for her...

i wanted to strangle the nurse
who insisted to put it back in
my mom needed a break from the damned needle!

whatever happened to compassion for the sick?

sheeesh,..i thought the hospital was supposed to make one well...
not torture the sick person...

they finally took it off around midnight...
but mommy had to sign a form of some sort...

deym technicalities!

but on the otherhand...

it was heaven that dada could spend the day (and 1 night) with us...
she makes everyone smile

even when the tension is rising eveywhere
coz of mixed up schedules as to who gets to stay in the hospital with mommy...

i miss sleeping on my own bed....
the bunkbed at the hospital (where i have been sleeping everynight since my mom got in)
isnt very comfy...
althouth the blanket helped make it a lil bearable...
it still isnt my bed... :(

i miss spending quality time alone with my dada
yung kami lang tlaga...alang iba...
dami ko ka-share...

hmmm...soon...
another haiku from my dada...
(she loves writing haikus!)
